Bobalunx on the edge…oops! Now who saw that coming?
Red's Planet is an All-Ages comic. Please keep comments appropriate.
Yay for the cartoon theory of gravity: “A character can stand on empty air until the moment they realize they are doing so – at which point they will drop straight down.”
“… except Road Runner.”
Saw this happen on one of the Road Runner shows. I forget what Wile E Coyote had initiated, but it left Road Runner standing on air. For the bulk of the story, Wile E gets bounced around the scenery while RR just watches. At the end (when Wile E face-plants), Wile E yanks out a sign which says, “I wouldn’t mind so much if he didn’t break the laws of physics.” In response, RR pulls out one which states: “I never studied Physics” – then he runs off. (roll credits)
And in case I wasn’t clear enough, while he’s watching, Road Runner is still standing on air.
I remember that cartoon well. Road Runner is actually standing on a small piece of cliff edge which is hanging in midair. Coyote’s sign reads “I wouldn’t mind – except he defies the law of gravity” and the Road Runner’s sign reads “Sure – but I never studied law.”
Indeed: Yay for cartoon physics!
But to be fair, if we apply real world physics, the Bobalunx would have missed the canyon’s other edge as well. Its trajectory in the third panel may lead to the assumption that it could reach the other side, but that only works in vacuum. As Red’s planet obviously has an air pressure similar to ours, the Bobalunx’s forward moving is slowed down by air friction and therefore the downwards part of its trajectory is considerably steeper than the upwards part.
The Bobalunx would most likely smash into the rock somewhere below Red. Yay for cartoon physics preventing this.
Chapter Four 20, blaze up
Now that’s just looney tunes. XD
But where’s the Good Kitty?
Red to the rescue!
All that’s missing is the “Mother” sign. Except he couldn’t hold on to it because he has no hands.
Hmm, Big blue lion guy is down there too. Wonder what they will talk about.
I sure hope Red has a rope in that backpack so that Goose can climb back up.
Yes, But I have a Ph.D in cartoon physics at ACME University, and he should have had a 3 second timeframe to run back to the opposite end.
Cartoon physics or just incredible hang time… it’s hilarious.
Just about until the bobalunxes fill up the gorge, I should say.
at least it’s only one falling…so far. Poor kitty.
The panel where the big cat slips off the edge of the cliff and says “Good Kitty” is a heartbreaker.
