UPDATE: It’s come to my attention that one of the characters in today’s page bears an unintended resemblance to a character from an old tv show (ironically, one that I never watched). I’ll be changing the character and updating the page this evening to avoid any association with the other character and steer clear of distractions to the story. I blame it all on media mind control.

Someone had a TV infested childhood. You’ve got Gleep from the Herculoids, Apemen and the fire plants from Super Mario. And I love the Stanley Kubrick reference.
I like the Hitchhikers Guide reference even more.
You forgot the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” reference.
I get more of a “Feed me, Seymour!” vibe from the plant-creatures. Warning, Red: Don’t feed them!
Also, Don’t panic? Maybe Red can pick up a copy of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to help her on her journey.
That one in the first panel looks like Bradley P. Richfield from Dinosaurs
That’s funny. I just did a Google search for the character— I never really watched the show and literally made that character up at the last minute.
Man, Red is definitely getting an eye full of all the creatures there were on board. Everybody has found themselves in a situation that is going to require coming together if they are to survive for long. So far it appears that aliens are handling the situations as the rest of us would. Confusion while assessing how hurt you are – Panel 1, Frustration – panel 2, Despair – panel 3, and Trying to calm others when its obvious your the one keyed up – Panel 4.
If there are this many beings crawling out of the wreck, I’m beginning to wonder about the architect(s) of this construct: didn’t they think to put in enough life-pods? After all, wasn’t there a general call to abandon ship before the crash?
I was also wondering about the lack of obvious dead or seriously injured, then realized they would be the ones -not- crawling out of the wreckage…
Panel 1: Is that the Boss from Dinosaurs (the TV Show)
Not the mama!…yes, I’m old.
Completely unintentional — I never watched the show.
What the French toast, you said 2 pages.
Mmmmh… french toast…
We waited for waaaaaay longer then a week (9 months to be precise… a coincidence that Reds rebirth took as long as a human pregnancy? We will never know! *g*) just to get chapter 3 started. Do you want to end it so soon again?
Patience will let you and us enjoy this comic for a while longer and gives Eddie more time and less stress to work his magic. So you see: Both sides win if we wait!
Lazy Reader — I said two pages this week; the next page will post Thursday or Friday.
Great page! Wow, that guy DOES look like that mean boss from Dinosaurs! Hee hee hee~!
Rule No. 42: Don’t Panic!
“Gleep” also has an uncanny resemblance to ‘Barbapapa’: http://www.barbapapa.fr/gb/barbapapa.html.
Just read Red for the first time today. It is brilliant! It has humour, pacing and tells a story without a deluge of words. The art is excellent! I’ve notice that all the characters seem very fleshed out! Well Done!
Thanks Andventures! Glad you like it so far!
Can’t get enough of these awesome creature designs…and yes, they would fit in wonderfully with the Douglas Adams-verse!
Thanks DadaHyena! High praise indeed.
hum…
red seems to be searching something or someone familiar.
Nice eddie, this is actually a well thought decision and perfectly like red should act.
i wonder when red is going to take into account the climat of the planet.
It looks like, so far, a rather hot planet.
first problem: water.
second problem: sun exposition.
she’ll need a shelter and a water source very rapidly.
I think at this point, Red is just wary of any of the creatures — this whole situation is, after all, very alien to her.
Did I see a puppy sized elephant?? Did I?
DFTBA…..
Thanks NightSprite! The elephants are actually an homage to the great Walt Kelly, who sprinkled them around in his Prehysterical Pogo series. So the true awesomeness resides there!
