I just noticed this post. Joe was my story teacher at Calarts for my Freshman year (87-88). He was, of course, wonderful and intruduced me to the art of Bill Peet. I really struggled that year (well, every year) and Joe was extremely kind and very encouraging. He was an important person at a developmental time in my life and I will forever be thankful for him.

Needless to say, I still get very sad thinking about how we lost him. I didn't know he was born on March 13th. That was my father's birthday.
