The Studio Vault
I’ve gotten a few requests to post some of my old comic strips from college. This one goes back either to my senior year in high school or my freshman year in college and I’m afraid I’ve lost the brain cells that held that memory. It’s a Tawee strip that was inspired by my dad (as in, I actually witnessed him do this one night). There were only a handful of Tawee comic strips and this was by far the better of them (which isn’t saying much). Fun to see how much and yet how little he’s changed through the years.
And for you kids out there, that’s a television set —TEL-E-VISION. They didn’t mount on the wall, weren’t wide-screen, only got 13 channels, and we had to put rabbit ear antennas on them to—aw, never mind!

That’s really cool. Glad you held on to those strips, it’s cool to look back and see stuff like that from the past. Thanks for sharing. Can’t wait to see Tawee again in Red’s Planet.
The original has really yellowed through the years, but I’m glad I kept it as well.
Nice classic work. I’m headed back to VA this month to my parents’ home and I’m scooping up a lot of my college sketches to post in a blog. Thanks for the inspiration.
Glad it inspired you George. Fun to look back at old work for a little bit of perspective.
Thanks for posting something from your college days. It’s really cool to see. It’s funny how some characters mature, but still maintain the same… essence to them. Not sure if that’s the right word.
I know exactly what you mean Joel.
