Team Cul de Sac Auction and Book!

As many of you may remember from a previous post , graphic artist Chris Sparks launched a very awesome campaign to honor cartoonist Richard Thompson — Reuben Award winning creator of the comic strip Cul de Sac— after his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis. Chris created Team Cul de Sac, a group of cartoonists, artists, illustrators, and animators who have donated original artwork for a fundraising book.  The artwork will also be auctioned with the proceeds benefiting the Michael J. Fox Foundation to support Parkinson’s research.

The auction, conducted by Heritage Auctions, begins this Sunday May 27 and will end June 10 . Now that I have moved the production of Red’s Planet to all digital (a topic for another time), I am producing much fewer original pieces of art and I’m too busy to take on commissions like many comic artists do. This is a rare chance to own an original one-of-a-kind illustration of Red (below) and support a great cause as well!

The artwork is also collected in a book, Team Cul de Sac: Cartoonists Draw the Line at Parkinson’s (Andrews McMeel Publishing), to be published June. The book looks amazing and features the work of some of the top cartoonists in the world and…me. I’m honored and thrilled to have been included to be in the book and honestly didn’t expect to have made the cut. If you order directly from Chris, a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, to support Parkinson’s Disease research.

Please consider bidding in the auction and buying the book as well! I can’t tell you what a great cause this is!
